Amsterdam Light Festival 2026/2027

From November 26, 2026 to January 17, 2027, Amsterdam will once again be transformed into a setting for light art during the 15th edition of Amsterdam Light Festival.

Twenty light artworks by local, national, and international artists each bring their own perspective on the city. No fixed theme, but different stories and ideas that together invite you to rediscover Amsterdam.

Admire the light art from the water or on foot and combine your visit to Amsterdam Light Festival with a stay at Grand Hotel Amrâth Amsterdam.

Amsterdam Light Festival Edition 15

During Edition 15, Amsterdam itself takes center stage as a platform for light art. In the eastern part of the city center, twenty light artworks can be admired, each with its own perspective on the city.

This anniversary edition deliberately has no fixed theme. Artists were given the freedom to respond to Amsterdam from their own point of view and to what they want to show the city’s residents and visitors.

The new route runs past, among other places, the Magere Brug and the Amstelsluizen. In addition to the light artworks, Amsterdam Light Festival organizes various free events and additional programming. In this way, the festival invites you to rediscover the city: from the water, while walking through the city, and with an open mind.

The light artworks can be admired daily during the festival from 4:30 PM to 11:00 PM.

Experience Amsterdam Light Festival from the water

From the Amsterdam canals, you experience the light artworks from a special perspective.

The sailing route for Edition 15 is approximately 5 kilometers long and will be sailed counterclockwise this year. A canal cruise takes an average of 60 to 75 minutes, depending on how busy it is on the water.

You can choose, among other options, a regular canal cruise boat, an open boat, or a cruise including drinks.
